Abstract

One of the strategic goals of rural energy today is to reduce the energy intensity of agricultural production by using renewable energy sources. Solar photovoltaic panels are rightfully determined as the most perspective and knowledge-based. The current paper considers the possibilities of solar energy application to advance the agro-industry of the Republic of Kazakhstan. The authors analysed the potential of solar energy in rural areas of the Republic of Kazakhstan: The average monthly solar radiation (insolation level) on a horizontal area; gross input of solar energy by region; duration of the daylight by months. Keywords: Solar Energy, Rural Areas, AgricultureJEL Classifications: Q4, Q48
